In November The Ocean CollectiveΒ hit the charts in several countries! Although this might be completely irrelevant and have no further meaning to a lot of people, it sure does mean something to me. It means that what i do and how i do it lead to things that work out and pay off in the end!
And this is absolutely crucial to the idea of following a path, that makes one happy.
Thank you all for supporting and believing in me! π
If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s the official video for the new Casper track “Lang Lebe Der Tod“. Very picturesque, very classy and very oppressive. The video was realized by my longtime colleague Chris Alsan. Chapeau!
i found something, that could be called the Holy Grail of drum notation. I’ve been trying to work this out for quite a while, but never really got my hands on a reliable source that provides all the info you need. Until yesterday.
He’s been doing some cool lessons on crazy fill-ins and licks, but also provided a full tutorial on how to use Logic Pro X as a drum notation tool. I have been using the tool recently to transcribe some strings for my solo project, but can finally use it for various drum notations now, which makes me extremely happy.
You can find the video here:
He also provided a link to a step-by-step PDF guide.
This opens up various possibilities. Not only can you program midi drums on whatever project you’re working on and have it transcribed right away, but you could also import audio files from your favorite songs, quantize and flex them to a certain click tempo and then transcribe the drums, starting whereever you want…
I’m pretty sure a lot of people would love to use this method for their lessons, practicing or just playing around, so make sure to check out his channel and give him the credits he deserves. Thank you Austin!
I’ll just lock myself in now and start working on transcribing some of my favorite releases…
I had some time yesterday to tweak my kit a little and set it up, like it felt most comfy to me and i also changed the dual-crash ride for the Benny Greb Official Sandride, which still sounds incredible.
This is a very versatile setup, as it combines my huge crashes, that i use for The Ocean Collective with the dry and effectful Meinl Cymbals that i’ve been using for the Like Lovers tour back in September!
